After getting many a strange meal for the rotund ogre, I unlocked Inspiring Leader. I then headed back north to continue with the main storyline...and to try and find more runes.
I have about a dozen runes, but the best item I can make with them is "Almost Godlike"...so I suppose I'll need to just keep searching. I wonder if it has anything to do with character level...I'm around level 37.
Anyway, I then played a couple-three matches with JCS19 and unlocked Warlord. My wizard is about 10 levels higher than his druid, so I easily won two out of three...on the other I let him win for the achievement, and focused on matching experience orbs and gold coins only.

It has to do with which ones you've unlocked -- most of the times I created a God-Like (I think that was the cap) item, it involved using the latter, high-end runes. I know that the Poison Rune figured in there on multiple occasions. I think I nailed it on my 360 account. I'd play it on PS3, but not being able to edit out that accursed, repetitive music is enough to make me want to tear off my own ears.

With a SPORK.
The two combinations that seem best (so far, with what I have) are Jewels/Gods/Plague and Music/Gods/Plague. Both of these came up as 'near God-like.' I think I'll track down the Shield Rune next--it seems a lot of folk have gotten the achievement using it.
I hear you re: the music! As with most arcade games, I prefer listening to Radiohead while playing.
